Regulations for visiting and payment policies

The Metropol School is accredited and licensed to organize and conduct Czech language exams, including the state exams B2 and C1 since 2011.

The school is authorized to organize and administer the TOEFL iTP exam from December 2023.

At the beginning of the course or level, we hold the Individual consultations with each student. The purpose of the meeting is to find out the students’ expectations, goals of training, their intentions, limits etc. During such meetings the students are also familiar with the School Rules and sign the document that they agree with them. If the students study in a mini-group, it is possible to discuss everything in a group.

All students get access to the jands-online.org (Moodle) platform, where they can do tasks by themselves (home tasks, placement, intermediate and final tests).

According to the Education Act of the Czech Republic, attendance must be at least 80%, including classes in Moodle, provided that the hours in Moodle are included in the Compulsory curriculum. At the end of the course all students get a state-recognized certificate (with watermarks) if their attendance was at least 80% and they successfully passed their final tests.

The groups may be rearranged according to the test results or after they finish the level. The School reserves the right to rearrange the groups and change the schedule.

Each student must have textbooks, which are purchased on their own or with the help of the School.

Group classes: the school works on a prepaid system – payment is made a month in advance by the 1st day of each month.
In case of delay in payment, 50 CZK is added to the basic cost for each week of delay. The school reserves the right not to allow students to study until the debt is repaid. Payment for missed classes is non-refundable. In case of absence, the teacher sends the student an assignment.
If difficulties arise, the student can get advice before or after the next lesson.

Classes in a mini group of 2 people: the cost of classes is calculated based on the fact that they are attended by two people. Students are offered the following payment options if one of them misses a class:

• The students must pay for the class even if one of them misses it. The teacher, in turn, has to provide the student with the material of the lesson in any convenient format (by mail, WhatsApp, Moodle).
• The student who is absent pays nothing if a student who comes to the class pays for the class as for the individual lesson.

Individual lessons: According to the rules of the school, students must pay a minimum of four lessons in advance. If a student cancels a lesson, the payment for it is postponed to the next date, only if the student has given at least 3 hours notice of the cancellation before the start of the lesson.

Payment for annual and semester courses is made in full one week before the start of the program. You can take advantage of installments for 2 or 3 payments.
In this case, a fee of 500 CZK is added to each fee paid by the student.
All this is included in the contract, a payment schedule is drawn up.

Groups are launched from a minimum of 4 people (simple language courses, express and intensive), from 8 people – semester courses, from 10 to 12 people – one-year courses.

Time reduction rules for the group of four people or more:
The course price is shown for a group of a minimum of four students. If the number of people is getting smaller, the School has the right to reduce the time of the classes while the price stays the same.
The time is reduced by 15 minutes if there are 3 students in the group and by 30 minutes if there are only two students left.

The program includes:

• thematic classes (Welcome Class, Halloween, Christmas, Easter, Autumn and May Exit Class, Final Class at the end of the course), which are held during regular hours,
• extracurricular activities (Prague 3, 2, 1 on St. Wenceslas’ Day, Student’s Day 17.11, Christmas party for adults or Christmas carols for children, Prague Quest in the target language, cinema or theater outing,
• trips to Dresden, Český Krumlov or Karlovy Vary,
• participation in the exhibition of educational institutions Gaudeamus).

Extracurricular activities, if they are not included in the cost of the program, are paid additionally.

The Support program for the students of the one-year intensive courses includes the following options (if they are not included in the program you have chosen, you can get them for an extra fee):

• individual consultations,
• seminars where you can get the information about nostrification, assistance in choosing the universities, correspondence with them and enrollment process, assistance in choosing the students dormitories,
• comprehensive assistance in nostrification,
• comprehensive assistance in the enrollment process to the chosen universities,
• visiting the universities (if it is necessary), international exams consultations.

The program is considered complete when the hours provided the curriculum and determined for a particular group will be passed in full.

The date in the contract is set in accordance with the duration of each program. For one-year Intensive and semester programs, the date is set in accordance with visa requirements – until January 30th or August 31st.

Before the classes start, the students have individual consultations where they get a study calendar. This calendar could be adapted during the year because of the personal students’ circumstances or if the course runs later than it has planned.

At the end of the level/one-year course, students take the exams which confirm their levels ( A1, A2 or B1) and get the Certificates with the supplement. Those who need B2 in Czech take the State exam and get the State certificate.

The certificate contains the results and level of the exam passed by the student (provided that he is admitted to this exam). If the student has not passed the current exam, then the certificate is issued at a lower level.
